Parent fun!

We are always trying our best to find ways to help parents and carers support their child's learning at home.  After listening to what you have been saying we have decided to hold some workshops to explain what we do at school and how you can support this at home.
This Thursday at 2pm Mrs Cook and Mrs Ward will be holding a session called Phonic Fun!  We will explain what phonics is, why it is so important and how you can help your child at home.  We will look at how phonics helps your child to learn how to read and write.
There will also be a workshop on the importance of talk and playing with your child, 'Let's talk about play' on Monday 5th March.  Come and find out why chatter matters! We are running a morning session and an afternoon session.
If you would like to join us then just see your child's class teacher to book a free place.
Let us know if there is anything else you would like us to run a workshop on.

Let's Pretend!

We have used our imaginations lots this week both inside and out.
We have all worked together to design and make the Orange Room in to an Emergency area.
Look at all the fun we had learning how to play together and how to help people.

The Emergency helicopter takes to the skies.

The Emergency Services have to keep fit and healthy so they can deal with any emergency.

The fire engine speeds to the rescue!

We even used our imagination outside. Look at the fab boat the boys made.

They were tigers escaping from a zoo!

Fire!

We had great fun in our outdoor classroom on Friday.  We were using our fab new outdoor easel to paint flames on.

Then we had to work as a team to solve the problem of how to get the water to the flames.
It was a bit tricky and we got very soggy.  First we used pipes and water carriers but that was very slow in an emergency.  Then we found that a sieve was no good for transporting water.
Finally, we decided best thing was to fill buckets and bowls. This put the flames out!

Then like real firefighters we had to clear the water away after.  A Firefighters work is never done!

Pancake Fun!

We have had a lovely day finding out all about Shrove Tuesday.

We tasted looked at different toppings for pancakes then we tasted them.  They were yummy.

We found out that some people have a Pancake race.  We had lots of fun having pancake races in our fab outdoor area.

It was very tricky trying to run and flip our pancake at the same time.  We learnt lots about balance and co-ordination!

Looking forward to a new term

Foundation are excited about coming back to school to start our new topic 'Emergency!'.  We will be learning all about people who help us and how we can stay safe.  We will be having lots of exciting visitors that we will tell you all about when we have interviewed them.  Keep checking back to see what we have been up to.
