Our Visit to the Pantomime!

"Oh, no it's not!"
"Oh, yes it is!"

That was the theme for our amazing afternoon today when we went to see Cinderella at the Lincoln Drill Hall. We had a fantastic time watching the show and we especially enjoyed all of the singing, dancing, music and taking part in all of the shouting and screaming when we were supposed to as part of the fun!

Getting very excited on the coach on the way to the pantomime!

So excited!

Lining up so beautifully and sensibly outside the Drill Hall.

Cinderella!

We loved it!

Busy Little Christmas Elves

Today was our school's annual Christmas market, and over the past couple of weeks Foundation have been very busy little Christmas elves making lots of lovely things to sell so that we can raise some money for charity. We have worked really hard to make sure that our Christmas tree decorations and Christmassy cakes were the best that they could be, and we had to think carefully about the order that we were making to make sure that we got everything right. Making the crafts also helped us to make our fingers strong, because our busy little fingers had to cut and thread and push and pull and knead and stir and lift and paint and sprinkle! What busy little Christmas elves we are!

Whoops-a-Daisy!

We have been so busy practising our Christmas play over the last few weeks, and last week was a very special week because we got to perform our play, 'Whoops-a-Daisy Angel' for all of our grown ups! They all thought that we were wonderful on stage. They were so proud of us and we were very proud of ourselves and our friends too because we all remembered to sing in big voices and sit beautifully until it was our turn to go on stage.

Lining up beautifully ready to go into the hall to perform our Christmas play!

Hello, Angels!

Having a lovely chat to our friends before we perform our play to our grown ups.

Hello, Mary and Joseph!

Our Snowflakes performing their beautiful dance.

A King has been born!

The shepherds walked a long way to see the new King called Jesus.

The wise men brought precious gifts.

Mr Edwards and Key Stage One were so proud of us they even sent us a letter telling us how much they had enjoyed our show.

Three cheers for Foundation!

Using critique to improve our work

Today we looked at how we could use critique to improve our work.  We looked at how it had helped children in other schools.
We decided to have a try ourselves.
We had a go at drawing Whoops-a-Daisy Angel. Then we worked together to look at what we thought was good about the picture and what we thought could be improved.
The children were really thoughtful and were saying things like, "I like how you have remembered the wings but perhaps they need to be a bit bigger".  "You have remembered her dress but don't forget she needs patches on it".
After our friends had given us some suggestions to improve our work we did a second and then a third draft.
We were amazed when we compared our first draft to our final draft. We could see how helpful it had been to listen to advice from our friends about how we could make our work better.
We were real persevering penguins today as we just kept trying to get better and better.

Practise Makes Perfect!

During the last week we have started to practise all of our songs that we will be singing in our Christmas play next month! We are all getting very good at remembering our words and remembering to sing in big voices so that all of our grown ups who will come to watch us in our play will be able to hear our beautiful singing voices. Today we have decided which parts we would like to play and our teachers have started to help us with any words and dances that we need to remember to make our play look amazing! Our words will be coming home with us soon so we can start to practise at home too. We are all very excited!

Let's go fly a kite!

Mrs Ward's group were learning the sound 'k' today. To help them remember it they took a kite outside and had lots of fun flying it. Today's cold, windy weather was good for something after all!

A special visitor

Ms Whimster from St Giles Nursery came to visit us this week.  It was lovely to show her how clever and settled we all are at big school.
Ms Whimster gave the children their Nursery Learning Journeys back so they could go home. The children loved looking back at things they had done in Nursery.

Dough Disco

We have so much fun in Foundation!
We know that we need to work on making our fingers stronger as some of us find holding a pencil difficult.  this means we can not make our letter shapes properly.
We have decided to give our fingers a daily work out. We are going to have a 'Dough Disco' every day so we can make our fingers strong while we have lots of fun!

We rolled and squished and squeezed the dough!
It was hard work but lots of fun!

Star Awards

As part of our 'Celebrate' topic we have spent the week making new friends and watching them to see what they are good at.  We made each other special star medals and wrote certificates for our friends. We celebrated everyone and what they were good at doing at a special awards ceremony this morning.  Lots of our friend and families came to join our celebration too.

Making A Difference Day

We were all busy little bees on 'Making a Difference' Day! We each brought a 50p donation into school so that we could come into school in non-uniform, and the money that we raised went towards buying lots of crocus bulbs so that we can help the Rotary Club to raise awareness of polio.
We helped to make a difference around our school by cleaning some of our toys, doing lots of gardening and sweeping up all of the rain water that had made a big puddle in our play area. We cleared up lots of leaves and learnt how we can help to make a difference in the future by putting them in our compost bin. We also learnt about lots of the people who help to make a difference in our own lives too. We love making a difference in Foundation!

'Celebrate!'

We started back at school today and our new topic for this term is 'Celebrate!' We have started our new topic by celebrating each other and finding out the things that each of us are good at. Today we had lots of fun being paired up with one of our friends so that we could play with them and find out what makes them special. At the end of this week on Friday morning we will present our friend with a Star Award in our very own awards ceremony in the hall to celebrate what we have found out about each other. We will get dressed up in our party clothes and have a real celebration! We hope lots of our grown ups will come to help us celebrate too!

'My friend is good at drawing.'

'My friend is good at reading.'

'My friend is good at counting.'

'My friend is good at listening.'

We started to make our Star Awards too!
