Physical Phonics!
This week we decided to get physical in phonics and make the most of the lovely weather and the outdoor space. Some of the children were finding it very difficult to remember the tricky digraphs and even trickier trigraphs. We made up new physical actions to match the graphemes.

Big construction
This week we have been constructing in lots of different ways on a large scale. This has meant that we have had to use lots of different skills.
We have had to plan ahead and work as a team because the ideas were not just in one persons head but they were all of ours.
We had to decide which materials to use and why and we had to talk to our friends to explain our choices and see if they agreed.
We then had to work together to make our models and dens. It was very tricky and it made us stretch up high and use our shoulders and all of our bodies as well as making our fingers stronger by cutting and tying and pegging.
It was such fun. We made Cuthbert the Ostrich from the Wildlife park and a giraffe with a really long neck. It was hard work making Cuthbert stand up and we had to really think about how we were going to make the giraffes long neck.
We even constructed inside dens because it was rainy outside. We used the iPads inside the dens and even had our fruit in the den!

Reluctant writers
Sometimes some children do not choose to write but today our writing table was jam packed with a queue! We were bursting with ideas about what we had seen on our trip to the wildlife park and we could not wait to write them down.
Some sneaky animals had snuck back from the wildlife park and done a bit of magic to our pencils! With our amazing animal pencils we did the best writing we had ever done and some people did not stop writing all day!

Real explorers
Today Foundation have been real explorers. We set off on our journey to the Yorkshire Wildlife park. We saw so many animals and learnt so much. We have had a fantastic time. We can't wait to get back to school and do some amazing work with all of the information we have learnt and things we have seen.

Intrepid Explorers!
This term Foundation's topic is Explorers. We will be going on lots of exciting adventures and discovering new things. This week we have been exploring where we live.
We have been on walks around our local area to see what we can find. We saw the chapel, the church, a bus stop and a post box. We walked past the Children's Centre and went to the shop. We met all of the people who worked there. They were very friendly.
We have also been tasting food that is from Lincolnshire like Lincolnshire sausage, plum loaf and poacher cheese. It has been a scrummy start to the term!
We have also been exploring local vegetables like cauliflower, potatoes and asparagus.
I wonder where we will explore next week?
